Class Description
This class is a great one for those who wish to learn the art of accurate historical costuming. After examining images and samples of German & English caps, you will get to sew your own. Build yours from various band and frill styles; all needed techniques will be taught.
Please bring the following:
- Lunch
- Pins
- Needles
- Thread snips
- Fabric scissors
- Tape measure
- Fabric marking pencil
- Optional: 2 yards of 1″ colored ribbon.
Check in at the Landis Valley Museum Store by 9:45 a.m.; class is located upstairs. Please note that class size is limited.
Bio:
Lynnette Miller is an independent textile consultant and educator. A member of the Costume Society of America, she focuses on promoting accuracy in historic interpretation, especially 18th and 19th century clothing construction and fit. She conducts clothing and millinery workshops for living history organizations and historic sites, including winter craft classes and Summer Institute at Landis Valley. Lynnette can often be found demonstrating in the Textile Crafts barn at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum.
Registration Information:
Register online or download our registration form and return with payment. Cancellation Policy: All materials must be pre-purchased by the instructor; therefore, cancellations can only be refunded prior to sales-end date (August 5). If you registered online through Brown Paper Tickets, you may request a refund through them up to 12 hours after purchase. After that grace period and before the sales-end date, refunds will be issued via a paper check from the Landis Valley Associates, less a $20 non-refundable processing fee. Please contact landisvalley@gmail.com or 717-569-0401 to request your refund. We reserve the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration. In that case, students can use funds already spent towards the cost of another class or receive a full refund.
