Are you looking for something fun and meaningful to do this summer? How about a summer camp for grownups? The Institute at Landis Valley Summer term offers something different for life long learners! The mission of Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum is to preserve and share the history and material culture of the Pennsylvania Germans. The Institute at Landis Valley is an integral part of the Museum’s mission.
The Institute Summer term, July 5-7, 2024, will offer seven classes and a lecture. Choose from classes that vary in length from one to three days. Explore how Flax growing in the field is transformed into fabric with an in-depth three-day workshop. Other classes included Theorem painting, Basket Weaving, De Schtaan – a PA German form of embroidery using a tin form, False Grain Painting and Fraktur. A lecture and book signing with Cindy Conner, author of Homegrown Flax and Cotton: DIY Guide to Growing, Processing, Spinning & Weaving Fiber to Cloth. Experts in their individual disciplines teach all workshops. Each day will start with time to meet with other participants while enjoying coffee and donuts.
