Landis Valley is proud to have on its staff Dr. Irwin Richman, professor emeritus of Pennsylvania State University and a prolific author. His passion for Pennsylvania German culture and gardening led him to write over 25 books and over 170 articles and reviews. He has passed on his knowledge in other ways, too: he taught garden history classes at Penn State and Longwood Gardens, he lectures for the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, and he has the honor of being the consultant for the Spring, 2013 “Vintage Seed Art” and 2014 Valentine Forever® stamps collections.
His association with Landis Valley is a long one, having served many roles at the museum since 1961. Currently, he is our research associate and, when not writing books and articles and giving lectures, and tours for Summer Institute, he helps at Herb and Garden Faire and Harvest Days.
