Year-Round Events at Landis Valley

From the first workshops of spring to our Annual Holiday Bonfire in December, Landis Valley’s calendar follows the rhythm of the seasons. Major festivals like the Herb & Garden Faire in May and Harvest Days in October draw thousands of visitors for demonstrations, food, music, and hands-on history, while smaller workshops and lectures run throughout the year for those who want a closer, more personal experience.

Because our programming is rooted in Pennsylvania German heritage and traditional trades, many of our events can’t be found anywhere else in the region. Whether you’re a lifelong Lancaster County resident or planning your first visit, our events offer a genuine, hands-on connection to the past.

Types of Events We Host

• Living-history festivals: Large, family-friendly events like Harvest Days and the Herb & Garden Faire, featuring costumed interpreters, demonstrations, food, and activities across the historic village.
• Hands-on craft workshops: Small-group classes in traditional Pennsylvania German trades, including redware pottery, fraktur, tatting, basket weaving, needle felting, and grain painting, taught by skilled artisans.
• America 250 Lecture Series: A monthly “Happy Hour” lecture series bringing noted historians and scholars to Lancaster County to explore the people and events that shaped early America. Explore the full America 250 Lecture Series.
• Seasonal & holiday events: Celebrations tied to the calendar, from our Juneteenth Celebration to our Annual Holiday Bonfire.
• Multi-day institutes: In-depth programs like our Summer and Fall Institutes, where participants immerse themselves in a traditional craft over several days.

Most events take place at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum at 2451 Kissel Hill Road in Lancaster, PA. Before you come, check our current hours and admission and plan your route. For larger festivals, buying advance tickets saves time at the gate.
