In this two day class you will learn the history of tape weaving and have hands-on experience with weaving on a tape loom taught by Susan Weaver.
Day one starts with an historical overview of PA German colonial tape traditions, Students learn about the tape loom and begin weaving on pre- warped looms, in traditional patterns.
Day Two – Students will create their Contemporary Pattern, draw a ‘draft’, measure the warp, dress their tape loom and weave. By the end of this workshop students will have a well-rounded experience in traditional and contemporary tape weaving. They will leave with a variety of samples of tape and should be confident in their own future tape weaving experience. Susan’s book is available for purchase in the Museum Store.
Dates: Saturday March 23 and Sunday March 24, 9 AM – 4 PM each day.
The workshop will be held in the Landis Valley House Hotel. Ages 18+.
Coffee and Donuts will be served each morning at 8:30 AM in the Historic Hotel.
Please bring a lunch and water bottle.
