Historic Presentation:
Discover history and traditional techniques of Theorem Painting, a unique early 19th Century American art created with multiple stencils achieving the look of handpainted art. Included in the presentation are one-of-a kind Theorem paintings from the 1800’s to the 1990’s, historic art patterns, and reference books. Theorem composition study is included.
Theorem Stencil Painting:

Intermediate Level:
Attendees will create their own Early American Art known as Theorem Painting popular in Colonial New England from the first half of the 19th Century through the mid-1800’s.
Using a series of pre-cut stencils, students learn how to apply oil paint with brushes to cotton velvet fabric to create a portrait that looks hand painted. All materials supplied. Frame not included.
The 8″ x 10″ design depicts Summer Fruit and Flowers in a Basket. Attendees will do a miniature version of the Theorem to practice on before beginning the actual painting.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate, no prior experience required, but helpful.
