The Shakers were prolific weavers in early America and designed this basket. Known as the “Cat’s head” because of the manner in which it is woven creates little “legs”. When flipped upside down it looks like the head of a cat with little ears. The handmade handle makes it a charming basket.
Students need to bring: measuring tape, sharpened pencil, a brick wrapped in plastic wrap, 12 large wooden clip style clothespins, old towel, scissors, pocketknife, a small regular screwdriver, spray bottle, pail or dish pan to hold 2 gallons of water.
