About the Workshop
During this workshop, participants will learn and practice rug hooking using the equipment and supplies associated with this traditional craft. Discussions will cover the advantages and disadvantages of various backing materials, how to select the right hook, and how to find a rug hooking frame and cutter that work for you.
Participants will also explore the wide world of fibers, including wool, yarn, and embellishments. Students may choose to complete either a 4-by-4-inch mug rug or a Try-It Sampler.
All class materials are included. A take-home beginner starter kit will also be available for purchase.
Meet the Woolwrights Rug Hooking Guild
The Woolwrights Rug Hooking Guild was certified in 2006 as Chapter 110 of ATHA, the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists. Its mission is to provide opportunities for rug hooking education and help members develop their skills in this traditional craft.
Members share information, ideas, and techniques with one another and with other guilds. The guild also sponsors local workshops and participates in area fiber arts exhibitions.
The Woolwrights meet from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM on the second Friday of each month at:

Visitors are invited to meet new friends, ask questions, and discover the exceptional talents of rug hookers from all walks of life. Guild members range from those who have practiced the craft for decades to those who have just begun.

Celebrate the stories of America as we approach the nation’s 250th anniversary with the America 250 Lecture Series at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum.
Beginning in May 2026, this engaging monthly series brings noted historians, scholars, and regional experts to Lancaster County to explore the people, culture, and events that shaped early America and our local heritage.
Held on the last Friday of each month (May–October), these programs are designed as a relaxed “Happy Hour” experience, offering:
