A new temporary exhibition opens on Sunday, 13 March, at noon titled ‘Pennsylvania Germans: Their Lives Through Color.’ The exhibition will be open in the Visitor Center through December, 2023. Access to the exhibition is available through an admission ticket to the museum.
With a variety of objects from the Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum’s extensive museum collection, textiles, ceramics, paper, leather, wood, and more highlight how splashes of color and design added beauty to utility. A popular misconception of several sects of Pennsylvania Germans is that their lives are full of blacks, grays, and whites and are absent of color. The exhibition shows how this is a misconception and that color was found in many facets of daily life.
Please join us during our hours of operation [Thursday to Saturday, 9 to 4 and Sunday, noon to 4] to explore the array of colorful objects throughout the gallery!
