Learn how to take a living stick of one type of apple tree and splice it onto a completely different variety of apple tree at this make and take class. $35 per person ($33 for Landis Valley Associates members) and includes 2 trees. Loads of apple varieties to choose from. Please bring a sharp knife and dress in layers.
This workshop is presented in cooperation with the Backyard Fruit Growers, a volunteer organization of fruit growing enthusiasts. The informal association of Backyard Fruit Growers began in 1990 as an exchange of information for amateurs and others in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, who wish to produce excellent fruit for the family, and to respect the backyard environment. members get together four times a year at seasonal meetings (Winter, Spring Grafting, Summer Orchard Tour, Fall Apple Tasting) to share ideas and fellowship.
