The Needle Felting Bunny Workshop is a welcoming, beginner-level introduction to the creative and satisfying fiber art of needle felting. In this hands-on class, participants will learn how to shape loose wool fibers into a three-dimensional bunny using specialized felting needles and a foam work surface. No previous experience is required—this workshop is designed to be approachable, fun, and rewarding for first-time felters.

Led by local fiber artist Lisa Haldeman, the workshop focuses on the essential techniques needed to create a small sculptural wool figure. Participants begin by learning how felting needles work, how wool fibers bind together through repeated needle strokes, and how to safely handle tools. Lisa demonstrates foundational methods such as building a firm core, shaping rounded forms, attaching features, and refining surfaces to achieve a smooth, finished look.

Throughout the two-hour session, students receive step-by-step guidance as they bring their bunny to life. The project is broken down into manageable stages, allowing participants to work at a comfortable pace while gaining confidence in the process. By the end of the class, each student will have completed a needle-felted bunny—perfect as a seasonal decoration, gift, or keepsake and an excellent starting point for future felting projects.

All materials are included in the workshop fee, including wool roving, felting needles, foam pads, and reference materials. Participants will also learn practical tips for setting up a felting workspace at home, caring for needles, and continuing to practice safely after the class ends. Because felting needles are sharp, this workshop is recommended for students ages 16 and older. Safety, proper hand positioning, and controlled technique are emphasized throughout the session.

The Needle Felting Bunny Workshop takes place in the Museum Store’s second-floor classroom at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum. The historic setting offers a comfortable and inspiring environment for hands-on learning, connecting modern craft practice with traditional fiber arts. This class is ideal for adults looking to try a new creative hobby, fiber enthusiasts expanding their skills, or anyone seeking a relaxing and productive experience in a museum setting.
