Building Descriptions

One of the first things to consider when planning an event is the size of the event itself.  Whether your family reunion is small, your wedding is large, or your corporate event needs a lot of room to spread out, Landis Valley has buildings and outdoor areas to suit virtually any size occasion.

Yellow Barn & Courtyard007 YB Ext by Thomas Beamon e-mail large.jpg

The Yellow Barn was built in 1939 with timber framing from the earlier 1814 Brick Farmstead barn.  This historic building was the first one George & Henry Landis used to house their museum exhibits.

With a capacity of 200-225 people maximum in 2,800 sq. ft., the Yellow Barn is perfect for wedding receptions, fundraisers, company picnics, luncheons, holiday parties, family reunions, dances, socials or any other event you can imagine.  It is beautifully decorated with hundreds of white twinkle lights laced around the wooden columns and draped across the ceiling beams giving it a warm and elegant glow.  Just imagine arriving at this scene in a horse-drawn carriage!  What a memorable experience!

North Shed 3.jpgThe rental of the Yellow Barn includes a large covered stone stable that is ideal for your buffet (pictured at left).  Also included is a beautiful outdoor 3,500 sq. ft. grassy courtyard.  This is a perfect location for your ceremony and cocktails and hors d’oeuvres reception.

*Any wedding site can be expanded by adding rented tents in outside areas.

Heated in the winter and fans in the summer, the barn is available March – December for events from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  Bathrooms are just behind the Yellow Barn next to the North Stable with 3 stalls for both men and ladies.

Landis Valley House Hotel was built in 1856 by Jacob Landis Jr. in our crossroads village and gave the name Landis Valley to the community which grew around it. The Hotel is furnished to depict circa 1900. Still standing in its original location at the intersection of Reading Road and Kissel Hill Road, it served both local patrons and travelers and was a regular route for the Conestoga wagons.  The hotel was used as the Landis Valley Post Office from 1872 to 1913, and up until the late 1960’s still operated as a popular local bar and restaurant.

This is the perfect setting for a more intimate gathering such as anniversary parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, birthday parties or luncheons.  The hotel has a bar room, parlor room and card room for a total of 832 sq. ft. and can accommodate up to 65 people.  It is also equipped with a professional kitchen.
