Classes & Workshops

CLASSES

Institute offers workshops with hands-on experiences in traditional crafts, open hearth cooking and farm life as well as seminars about Pennsylvania German culture. Its purpose is to preserve and pass on a working knowledge of 1700s and 1800s rural life. Call 717-569-0401 ext 212 for more information. Registration is now being accepted by phone for Winter Institute 2012.

Hands-on History Days provide children of all ages the opportunity to experience a living history farm and village through hands-on activities - children's historic games and chores, wagon rides, one room school house lessons, PA German decorative art and more. Children’s Winter Camp will be offered Tuesday and Wednesday, December 27-28. Children will try their hands at various hands-on activities such as ornament making, tin punching, theorem painting and open hearth cooking.
